Morphostructural nodes - specific mosaic structures, formed at the intersections of morphostructural lineaments, are extreme manifestations of recent block activity in mountain areas. The existence of a structurally and dynamically analogous node on the Russian Plain, an old platform with a consolidated Precambrian basement is demonstrated in this paper. Criteria which had been found for distinguishing such nodes in mountainous areas were applied in this case. This result is in agreement with M.A. Sadovskiy's concept of the automodelling of the structure and dynamics of the lithosphere under various tectonic conditions. The first experience in distinguishing a morphostructural node the plain-platform region has been gained in the vicinity of the town of Istra, where five morphostructural lineaments of different ranks intersect on the MMR scheme of the Russian Plain Center.
