The vertical distribution of macrofossils (echinoids, biyozoans, brachiopods, bivalves, and others), and planktonic and benthic foraminifers was studied in several Paleocene and Eocene sections of western Mangyshlak. The biostratigraphic subdivision of the sections and correlation with those of the Crimea and western Europe were carried out. Stratigraphy of the lower Paleocene (Danian and Montian), upper Paleocene (Selandian and Thanetian), lower Eocene (Ypresian), middle Eocene (Lutetian and Bartonian), upper Eocene (Priabonian), and lower Oligocene (Rupelian) was substantiated. The investigations were mostly devoted to the Paleocene.
