A new species of the genus Corylus (Betulaceae) is described from the upper Miocene Ust'-Suifun Formation in its type locality (Razdol'naya River basin, southern Primorie Region). The new species is compared with known fossil and recent members of the genus Corylus. The flora-bearing sequence and plant assemblage containing the new species are described. The assemblage is dominated by members of the temperate and warm-temperate families Betulaceae, Juglandaceae, Ulmaceae, Salicaceae, Aceraceae with minor amounts of thermophilic plants. The assemblage consists of 72 taxa including ten members of Phyllites spp. and was designated as "Terekhovka flora."
