Аннотация

Comparative analysis of Pleistocene climatic events in the Black and Mediterranean seas is used to improve the Pleistocene stratigraphic scale for the Mediterranean region, where beds (terraces) yield tropical molluscan faunas of variable thermophilic affinities. On this basis, the late Chaudan (the epi-Chaudan included) and Sicilian transgressions are correlated with similar events of the Paleouzunlarian and Milazzian times. The Uzunlarian and Paleotyrrhenian phases appear to be also correlative. The Karangatian and Chernomorian transgressive cycles fully correspond to the Tyrrhenian (Riss/Würm) and Flandrian events, respectively.
