CATION-EXCHANGE PROPERTIES OF NATURAL ZEOLITES

Abstract

A review on ion-exchange equil. involving natural zeolites. The cation-exchange capacity of zeolites and the thermodn. of ion exchange are considered. Several examples illustrating the use of an ion-exchange model are presented, focusing on clinoptilolite, for which selected sets of exptl. data were used to derive parameters for the Margules equation for zeolite solid solns. and to calc. ion-exchange isotherms as functions of soln. compn. and concn.
