A NEW DICYNODONT (ANOMODONTIA, EOTHERAPSIDA) FROM THE UPPER PERMIAN OF TATARSTAN

Abstract

A new dicynodont genus and species, Idelesaurus tataricus sp. nov. (Cryptodontidae), from the Semin Ovrag locality (Tatarstan, Tetyushinskii District; Upper Permian, Upper Tatarian Substage, Severodvinian Horizon) is described. The skull patterns of the East European and South African Cryptodontidae and Aulocephalodontidae are compared from the morphofunctional point of view. © Pleiades Publishing, Inc. 2006.
